TSC is pleased to be able to safely visit clients again on-site. One of the first trips was to recommission the TSC Virtual Control Room at BP’s Houma, Louisiana site.
Sam Jago and Luke Johnson of TSC Simulation have recommissioned the TSC Virtual Control room. The desks are connected to a 6m diameter Igloo system, for operator training at the BP Houma site.
The system which was previously installed at the Houston learning centre allows collaborative training between groups of operators.
The TSC 3D Virtual Control Room desks allow students to experience operating a process plant from the perspective of a control room operator while collaborating with a team working in the virtual 3D environment. The system is installed with the full range of TSC Interactive Virtual Plant modules:
- Three Phase Separator
- Centrifugal Compressor
- Condensate Tank Farm
Each of these modules includes a full mathematical model of the system, a fully interactive 3D model of the process, and a control room operating screen.
The system allows operators to practice start-up and shutdowns of each of the processes. TSC has a full-plant malfunction and fault injection system, which allows a wide variety of scenarios to go wrong in the process, meaning both the control room and field operators need to go through the problem-solving exercises to keep the process operating safely.
